Granbury ISD has named Tim Rocka, Ph.D., as its next Executive Director of Human Resources, bringing more than three decades of leadership experience in Texas public education to the district. Dr. Rocka will assume the role following the retirement of Wes Jones, who will conclude his service at the end of February.
Dr. Rocka (pronounced Ro-key) most recently served as Deputy Superintendent at Carthage ISD, a role he has held since 2023. Prior to his time in Carthage, he served as Director of Career and Technical Education at Whitehouse ISD. His leadership experience also includes serving as Interim Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources at Bryan ISD. Additionally, Dr. Rocka has held director-level roles in Human Resources and Business & Finance at Brenham ISD and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, as well as Career and Technical Education leadership positions at Jacksonville ISD and Palestine ISD.

We are incredibly fortunate to welcome someone of Dr. Rocka’s caliber to our district.”
Dr. Rocka holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Texas A&M University and is certified in Texas as a superintendent. He earned his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in agriculture from Stephen F. Austin State University. Dr. Rocka is also a Registered Texas School Business Administrator (RTSBA) and has received multiple statewide honors for leadership in human resources and public education.

In addition to his district leadership experience, Dr. Rocka has served as a consultant for the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO). He has also served as an adjunct professor at Stephen F. Austin State University and Sam Houston State University, where he taught graduate-level courses in educational leadership, school finance, human resource management, and communication—further reflecting his belief in developing strong leaders for the future.
Dr. Rocka has been married to his wife Kim for 35 years. Together, they have three adult children, Courtney, Colten and Caylee.
